We really appreciate all the folks who are planning to make the trip to Puerto Rico for the wedding. So, we are putting together as much information as we can to help you make the trip as inexpensive and fun (in addition to the wedding) as possible.
We will be staying in Puerto Rico most of the week following the wedding before heading to Cincinnati for the reception there. Many folks are planning to use our wedding as an excuse for their summer vacation in the Caribbean. It is hard to find fault in that logic.
There is at least one diving excursion to Lajas/Parquera planned. So, you may want to keep that in mind while trip planning.
Travel Considerations from Kelly’s sister Jennifer
For those making airline reservations, I recommend you book them online. American Airlines has a huge hub in PR and has to most flights, but Jet Blue and Continental have great rates as well.Kelly and Doug’s wedding weekend is the next to last "official" summer weekend for school kids and the end of our "summer"season, so make your hotel reservations soon…. They are pretty booked the last weeks of July.
As a rule, airfare to Puerto Rico is not cheap. So if you find a fare under $500, you are doing really well. We’ve set up a group rate with American Airlines (see below). However, chances for a good fare are probably much better with one of the online services … even the lady from American Airlines said as much! So, we’ve included links we think will prove most helpful.
- American Airlines :: Group Rate
We worked out a group fare with American Airlines. When making your reservations, tell them you are part of the “Garity/Daulton Wedding” and you will receive 5% off of the fare.
- Travelocity.com :: FareWatcher
If you do not already know about FareWatcher, you owe it to yourself to sign up. Enter up to five departure airports and your destination and FareWatcher will tell you the current best fare. Even better, it will automatically email you anytime one of your fares goes up or down by $25 or more.
For folks in Cincinnati, I recommend you choose the following airports: Indianapolis (IN), Columbus (OH), Dayton (OH), Louisville (KY) or Lexington (KY). Fares are always better out of those airports than out of Greater Cincinnati. Usually, it is worth the little bit of extra driving.
The wedding will be held at Santuario Del Cristo De La Reconciliacion (Sanctuary of the Christ of Reconciliation) Catholic Church. The reception will be held at the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club. Both are in in Dorado, PR. Click here for general information on Dorado. These hotels are very close to all wedding activites and we have worked out group rates for each.
- Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club :: Rates = Beachfront - $190/night, Standard - $165/night :: Call 787.796.1234
This is the gorgeous, five star hotel where the wedding will be held. These rooms usually go for $300/night and up. To get these special rates, call 787.796.1234 and tell them you are with the “Garity/Daulton Wedding”. Please make your reservations by Friday, June 17th. - Costa de Oro Guest House :: $75-120 Rates :: Call 787-278-7888
We reserved all 13 guest rooms available at these rates. Be sure to tell them you are with the “Garity/Daulton Wedding”. Some rooms sleep 2 (queen bed) others sleep 4 (2 queen beds). Kelly checked it out in person and describes it as “quaint, clean, cute and 2 minutes walk from the beach!” Please make your reservations by Friday, June 17th.

Everyone is welcome to come to Mass with us, but the reception site will be finalized once we are back in Cincinnati in May. Stay tuned.
The Honeymoon: ???
An Undisclosed Destination
Kelly is in for a surprise. So, no one but Hildi gets to know.
A Party In Vegas
Date: TBD
Once we get settled in, we’ll set something up with our friends in Vegas who could not make the trip. What can we say? A lahdy, dahdy, we like to party!
The links below will take you to our registries. Please have items shipped to the address listed with each registry. We’ll be living in Las Vegas for at least the first year. So, sending gifts to our home in Nevada seems to make more sense than bringing them to the wedding in PR or the reception in Cincinnati.
In advance, thank you all!
